MONDRIAN/BOWLEGS UNSIGNED FEATURE

"It is to our shame and detriment that the standard of Bowlegs’ French is on a par with that of a semi-inebriated Clouseau. You say singe, we say minkey. We’re remorseful but we’re trying to learn.

We were hoping Parisian band MONDRIAN would teach us the error of our ways, but they have a tendency to sing in English. That hasn’t stopped us listening to them over and over again though. Their mix of synth-heavy pop – which falls closer to the new-wave of the 80s than the glo-sticks of the 90s – and quirky folk-pop, comes in short blasts which slap you repeatedly in the ears with catchy verses and choruses.

They started in 2007 as a duo, comprising Morning Crash and Roman Oswald, but last year took on two more members: Crash’s sister, Demoiselle, and Cyrille Fournel, a battery-powered drummer. They’ve just released their first EP, ‘Pop Shop’, and we’ve got a taste of it below, the opening track ‘Tofu Farmer’. = More? Here = http://www.bowlegsmusic.com/bowlegs-unsigned/mondrian! "
